Iran to start new round of nuclear talks with powers in Vienna

TEHRAN, April 7 -- Iran's nuclear negotiators headed by foreign minister left for the Austrian capital of Vienna on Monday to attend the new round of nuclear talks between Iran and world six major powers, semi-official Mehr news agency reported.

The talks will be held on April 8-9 in Vienna, said the report, adding that Iran's foreign minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif and EU Foreign Policy chief Catherine Ashton will meet on Monday evening ahead of the talks.

Hot topics including Iran's uranium enrichment activities and its Arak heavy water plant as well as international and western sanctions against the Islamic republic will be at the core of the upcoming discussions.

Iran and major world powers were likely to start drafting a final agreement over Tehran's nuclear program next month, the senior Iranian nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday.

A three-day meeting of nuclear experts from Iran and the P5+1 group, namely Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States plus Germany, concluded in Vienna on Saturday. After the talks, head of Iranian negotiation team Hamid Baeidinejad said that "the useful technical talks helped the parties to understand each other 's stance better."
